AIDS and Population Control In Africa

Dear Friend and Colleague:

At a time when the AIDS epidemic is ravaging Africa, and threatens to reduce the populations of many countries, we continue to spend tens of millions of dollars on so-called "population stabilization" efforts. Even our response to AIDS is mostly limited to throwing boatloads of condoms at the problem, which only seems to have exacerbated the problem. Is it any wonder that African leaders are beginning to denounce population control programs as racist and even genocidal?

AIDS and Population Control In Africa

For the first time since the Black Death in the Middle Ages, a disease is sending whole nations into absolute demographic decline. The disease is AIDS, and the continent affected is not Europe but Africa. The magnitude of the devastation that AIDS is wreaking in Africa comes through in a newly published Census Bureau study entitled AIDS Pandemic in the 21st Century, by Karen Stanecki of the Bureau's Population Division.

Speaking at the 13th International conference on AIDS, held in Durban, South Africa, from July 10 - 14, Ms. Stanecki of the US Census Bureau startled listeners by reporting that the populations of several African countries were poised to fall in the near future because of rising levels of HIV infection. The countries of Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa could be filling more coffins than cradles as early as 2003, with several other countries to follow.

AIDS has swept away almost 15 million Africans to date, and continues to spread with horrifying rapidity, Ms. Stanecki also reported. Because of AIDS, life expectancy in several sub-Saharan African countries will decline to a mere 30 years over the next ten years, crude death rates will double and triple, and infant mortality and mortality rates for children under five years will continue to show dramatic increases. AIDS is also having a significant impact on population growth in Latin America, the Caribbean, and South East Asia.

What should the U.S. do to help developing countries in Africa cope with a pandemic that threatens their very existence? Some worthwhile steps have already been taken. The U.S. House of Representatives has increased funding for AIDS prevention programs which, if properly spent promoting chastity, could help check the spread of the disease. It has also tripled the amount of debt relief extended to Third World countries, a measure which will reduce the economic impact of losing a large percentage of the work force to chronic illness and death.

At the same time, however, the U.S. government continues to promote family planning programs, even in countries which are on the verge of demographic disaster. Why is the Agency for International Development aggressively promoting sterilization and contraception-including the use of dangerous abortifacient chemical contraceptives-among the people of the Republic of South Africa, for example? How can population control programs be allowed to continue in countries whose populations are already on the verge of decline? How can the U.S. justify spending tens of millions of dollars each year on population control programs in a continent where each year 2 million people die from AIDS, millions of children are orphaned, and people of all ages are dying from the lack of even the most rudimentary medical care?

Despite their radically different titles, "AIDS prevention" programs, funded at $260 million, and "population stabilization" programs, funded at $385 million, are eerily similar in operation. Both rely heavily upon the massive and indiscriminate distribution of condoms. In a press release dated 9 July 2000, USAID boasts that to date they have provided one billion condoms through their AIDS prevention efforts. On the USAID Ethiopia web-site, USAID boasts of 24 million condoms socially marketed annually through their family planning efforts in that one country alone. At the grassroots level, programs to control AIDS and fertility assume the same shape: that of a condom.

A recent article in the Lancet, a premier British medical journal, suggested that a condom-based approach, by creating a false sense of security, had not only failed to stop the spread of AIDS, but has actually exacerbated the problem. The emphasis on condoms has also distorted the local health care delivery system, even to the point where shipments of condoms and other contraceptives take priority over much-needed shipments of medical supplies.

Why is a condom-based approach, which has spectacularly failed to stop the spread of AIDS, still being so assiduously promoted by some in Washington? Obviously because it contributes to the goal, still paramount in the minds of the anti-people movement, of further reducing the numbers of Africans. For them, AIDS isn't enough.

Aw, thіs wаs an exceptionаlly nice post.
Spenԁing some time and actuаl effort to maκe
a really good article… but what can I say… I put things off a lot and never manage to get anythіng dоne.

Feel fгee to viѕit my blog pοst; Bitcoin Video Poker

it all comes down to the natural selection process from a scientific, economic, and educated point of view, as a population they don't deserve to survive in any mathematical formula i have calculated. given the countless trillions of $ donated from world governments to educate and combat the medical needs and famine. with regard to aids and famine the situation has not improved despite what charitable organizations report. i will explain and keep this as simple as possible but it is obvious anyway. a pregnant woman has AIDS/HIV and they pass that condition on to their children not just one as the average family numbers are 6+ children per female by the age of 30. although knowing that the children they have will be infected with aids they use no contraception despite it being made widely available free at charity clinic's and continue to reproduce and those that dont are usually subject to rape from being as young as 1 year old i kid you not so aids is an inevitable condition ike catching a common cold. also being malnourished and hardly having enough food to survive them self's they decide to continue reproducing which in all equals less food and medical treatment per head as the population grows despite large death rates the population has in fact has grown in Botswana by 1.477% due to rising birth rates and not aid. they do not cultivate enough crops and cattle for domestic use and what is grown the majority of crops are now sold under fair trade policy's after bans were lifted on commerce which in its self was the worst idea going as now they are more dependent on aid for food instead of having to eat what was grown they now sell and this does not benefit the general populous when a starving country sells of its own food source which adds to more famine. this situation will now become worse give the economic climates around the main donates of aid the usa and uk as growth falls so will aid. this situation will eventually reach epic proportions and it is inevitable that total self destruction of these types of nations is witnessed powerlessly and this is a mathematical fact that will be proved in 30 to 40 years. individuals are remarkably intelligent its populations that are stupid. its no good educating one person to understand the problem and take action, every citizen must.

this is absolutely a false

this is absolutely a false report intended to create fear.African population is projected to increase not decrease.I don't believe this report, because these are the people who have no jobs in europe,or Us ; they just go and get a small group of aids petients and then publish nonsen report for the sake of their own benefit, once they get funded ,they go their own way.let africa grow.the number of people living with HIV/aids is decreasing in Africa.why not a positive report from european doctors on Africa. it is clear that people in europe and us want the rich african land to be theirs in the future. iam sure your report will conflict those of africans medical reporters.

You are wrong, kind sir. Have you not read the statement above? Africa is not expected to increase in population. How can they, when a woman does not even have 5 children?

AIDS is not on the decline. It's foolish to think so. Look at the LGBT community and its high density of AIDS victims, and look at the CDC reports of AIDS in other countries.

You are willing to call out this report, yet give no evidence to support your claims. Your arguments are invalid and are based on false assumptions. Take your pseudo-science elsewhere.

While I honestly would like

While I honestly would like to believe that Africa's population would stabilize and be on the decline like the rest of the developed is, it's not. The truth is for the next 50 years, Africa will continue to grow at an exponential rate. AIDS or not, Africa is growing faster than ever before in history. By 2100, which is only 85 years from now or so (say when your kids grow old), Africa will be the most populous continent in the world. Nigeria alone will be the 2nd most populous country after India (overtaking China). Nigeria is expected to reach 1 billion by 2100.

These arguments are

These arguments are organization statistics show clearly that all african countries' population is growing, not decreasing, with an increasing spreading of AIDS and drama such as orphaned children. The only thing to do to help them, and especially women, it to control population growth and prevent the spreading of the disease.

I agree! How can Americans

I agree! How can Americans expect their country to be sending any real help to these stricken nations? America supports organizations with government grants, such as Planned Parenthood, which was begun with a known agenda of population control: reducing minority populations, especially blacks, and continues to target blacks and hispanics! The majority of Clinics are in low-income minority areas. If you look up quotes by Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood and enthusiastic eugenics promoter, it will astound you.

America also has organizations like the Sierra Club, which states on their website: "Beyond the ICPD goals, the Sierra Club is a pro-choice organization that has worked for population stabilization since 1965." "The Sierra Club therefore welcomes non-coercive, culturally sensitive policies that will help lower birth rates, [and] stabilize global population..." They also advocate 2-child families. How will we ensure these "non-coercive" policies don't become coercive, a la The Peoples Republic of China?

Even Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg recently stated an opinion of the eugenistic ideologies behind the Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion. "Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae — in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn’t really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong."

Do you think an America that supports these organizations, which likely lobby Congress, and some of which ARE receiving millions of dollars in grants from our government, is going to send aid over to Africa or any other developing nation? In my opinion they are secretly pleased that so many people are dying. To me, it's a sick demented thought process, but to organizations like these, and the Justices of the Supreme Court who supported Roe vs. Wade, HIV throughout the world (even America) helps reduce minority, and overall World populations, which is positive in their opinion, and in some cases is their GOAL. So, don't continue to hold out for much more than a box of condoms (lip service) from the US.

And if "Regular Joe" Americans are surprised by the attitudes of the organizations and people of power, look into it. Do some thinking, and some protesting. Write to your Congressmen and women. Change the status quo. Don't just sit by in idle ignorance while this goes on under your nose. Let the government know that you are pro-life. That you stand FOR the lives people all over the world of every age and stage, whether born or unborn, of every race and nationality, HIV positive or not. Let us not keep putting those in power who support such insidious discrimination against life, whatever their agenda may be.
